CHINESE MEDICINE & ACUPUNCTURE

"Symptoms are not enemies to be destroyed but sacred messengers who encourage us to take better care of ourselves"

A traditional Chinese medical technique for moving energy or “Qi”.  Very fine disposable needles are inserted into various acupoints on the body to help the patient achieve balance and restore wellness.

Acupuncture is a facet of Chinese Medicine and is a holistic and noninvasive treatment system.  It promotes natural healing and enhances overall healthy well-being.  This is accomplished through the insertion of very fine, “hair-like”, disposable, sterile needles at specific points in the body.  Acupuncture is quite safe and painless, and works by activating the body’s Qi (pronounced “chee”).  The needles are placed so that they unblock energy obstructions and restore balance.

Qi (pronounced “Chee”) is central to and the foundation to Chinese Medicine.  Qi which means “life energy”.  Qi flows throughout the body, keeping it healthy, free of pain, and free from illness.  The quality and balance of Qi directly influences ones health and well-being.

Qi flows through various pathways in the body called meridians, these meridians or pathways are connected to specific organs and transport the Qi to every cell, organ, tissue, and muscle.  When the flow of Qi is blocked or disrupted by physical trauma, poor diet, insufficient exercise, or excessive taxation on the body, an imbalance results.  This imbalance is the cause of an unhealthy state.  If the body is in a weakened state or if a blockage is severe or ongoing, illness, pain, and disease can result.

Is Acupuncture safe for me?

Acupuncture is a non-invasive, all natural treatment. It has no side effects, and can be used side-by-side with other traditional (Western) medical treatments.  The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) recognize Acupuncture as an effective treatment for many ailments.  So the answer is a yes, Acupuncture is  safe.

The practice of Oriental Medicine has been successfully used for millennia.  As an alternative to Western medicine, the Chinese Medicine approach vastly differs in that it focuses on treating the cause of the problem rather than medicating and putting a band-aid on the symptom.

Chinese medicine views  health issues as a manifestation of an imbalance in the body, at the root level.  Focused on restoring balance through a variety of approaches, Oriental medicine includes acupuncture, herbal treatments, homeopathic remedies, and nutritional therapies.  As we balance the patient at the root level, the symptoms eventually disappear.
